Besotted by Catherine Howell

Catherine has created her delightful signature painted design stitched entirely in hand dyed silk threads. The two adorable field mice are nuzzled up to each other, cozily cocooned in their textural silk straw embroidered nest.  Having eyes only for each other, they are distracted by 3 curious Ladybirds paying them a friendly visit.

This project features thread painting stitch techniques that capture the besotted look of love in their eyes, character in their faces, to the clever life like tiny bead ladybirds sitting on the mice’s entwined realistic tails; and fused hand dyed silk organza leaves.

The techniques include thread painted embroidery, dimensional padding, silk fused organza, beading and wiring skills. All will be revealed to creatively capture this joyful woodland scene.
